Brenda Washington began working at KMBC-TV as a general assignment reporter in 1985. She is a native of Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Avila College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Theatre.

Previous television stations where she worked include KQTV-2 St. Joseph, Missouri, KSHB-TV and WDAF-TV both in Kansas City.
