KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mayor Mark Funkhouser's wife is making news again.

This time it's over a traffic ticket, and what may have been an exchange involving Gloria Squitiro and traffic officers at Kansas City International Airport.

Funkhouser and his wife drove to the airport Tuesday as he prepared to leave on a flight to the Netherlands.

KMBC sources confirmed that the couple's car got the attention of traffic officers. It was written up and ticketed as an unattended vehicle.

There was also an incident report filed, and there were witnesses to the exchange with officers.

The report has not been made public yet.

The incident occurred on the same day that airport authorities were dealing with added security concerns because of the arrival of Sen. John McCain.

The mayor's office has not responded to KMBC's request for comment from Squitiro.

Leaving an unattended vehicle outside an airport terminal has not been allowed since security was increased after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.

Funkhouser is expected to be out of the country until next Tuesday.
