Barack Obama's Wife Campaigns In KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Michelle Obama told a cheering crowd in Kansas City the power to change the country is in their hands. The wife of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama led a late-afternoon rally in the city's 18th and Vine district. About 3,000 supporters jammed the street and heard a message on the importance of registering to vote -- and voting for Barack Obama.
She told the crowd that there's an urgency to register to vote with only a week left before Missouri's Oct. 8 deadline. "I don't want anybody to look back on November 5th and say, 'Man, wouldn't that have been nice. That felt good didn't it? How did we get here?' See, we've done that already. We've done that for eight years," she told the cheering crowd. Michelle Obama attended a fundraiser in Kansas City after the rally. About 180 people paid between $1,000 and $20,000 to be there. She will campaign in Michigan on Thursday. This is the second visit by Michelle Obama to Kansas City. She campaigned in the city in early July and joined a roundtable discussion on women's issues. Republicans also had a big event in the area Wednesday. Nominee John McCain stopped in Independence and spoke at the Truman Memorial Library. (Read The Story)
