Independence Woman Hung To Death In Home Accident

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- Authorities say the hanging death of a 79-year-old Independence woman was the result of an unusual accident.It happened in the 3800 block of North Union. KMBC's Lara Moritz reported that family members discovered the body on Monday hanging from the ceiling of the victim's garage. Police said the woman was apparently in the attic above the garage when she somehow fell through the ceiling and was killed.Officials were unsure if the accident happened Sunday night or early Monday morning. Authorities have not released the victim's identity.
