KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City's unemployment rate jumped from 5 percent in August 2007 to 6.2 percent this August.Unemployment rates were higher in August than a year earlier in 354 of the 369 metropolitan areas.The national jobless rate was 6.1 percent in August, which was significantly higher than the 4.6 percent national rate in August 2007.
