KC's Unemployment Rate Rises To 6.2 Percent

Jobless Rate Higher Than Year Ago In Most Of Metro Area

Kansas City's unemployment rate jumped from 5 percent in August 2007 to 6.2 percent this August.

Unemployment rates were higher in August than a year earlier in 354 of the 369 metropolitan areas.

The national jobless rate was 6.1 percent in August, which was significantly higher than the 4.6 percent national rate in August 2007.
