LIBERTY, Mo. -- Animal control workers put down an 8-week-old kitten that two men allegedly put on a barbecue grill.

KMBC's Brenda Washington said that the incident happened Friday night at the Jefferson Park apartments. A resident who saw what was happening, said she was slightly burned while rescuing the kitten.

"We grabbed the kitten. It was so badly burned it was horrible," said Sherry Scott.

Two men, ages 23 and 24, were charged with violating Liberty's animal abuse ordinance. They could face state animal abuse charges.
