Take A Ride On The Tequila Train

Vintage Train Car Rides Rails To Raise Money For Gulf Coast Recovery

Call it a ride for a good cause -- and with a good spirit.

As the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina's devastating blow to New Orleans and the Gulf Coast approaches, Patrón tequila is partnering with New Orleans' St. Bernard Project and Preservation Hall -- two organizations focusing on recovery -- to create a national fundraising initiative called the Music in Motion tour.

The centerpiece of the program is a refurbished vintage 1927 train car, now named The Patrón Tequila Express, which is now riding the rails across the country to collect donations for the continued recovery efforts that are helping get the region back into the groove.

"Our train car, completely refurbished to its original 1920s grandeur, spent considerable time in New Orleans and was often used by Louisiana dignitaries back in the day before jet travel," says Matt Carroll, chief marketing officer of The Patrón Spirits Company. "Using our one-of-a-kind rail car, the Music in Motion tour celebrates the vitality and rich cultural heritage of New Orleans while spreading a message that support is still greatly needed to help the people of this great city."

Everybody who would like to take a ride on that train, raise your glass. Yeah, that's what I thought.

Here's the deal: You can! As the train travels from city-to-city, it is offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride the train to a destination to attend a music-related event.

The catch? You have to be one of the people who raises the most money for the Music in Motion fundraising initiative.

To participate in the Music in Motion tour or learn more about it and the train, log on to MusicInMotionTour.com

People who raise the most funds will be eligible to win prizes, including the opportunity to ride the train with their friends to attend a music event in a nearby city. Prizes also include an all-expense-paid trip for two to the 2008 Video Music Awards in Los Angeles and a red-carpet event at a New York City hot spot.

Organizers say all money raised will directly benefit efforts in New Orleans to rebuild homes and help bring music and musicians back to the city.
