Classes Delayed At Urban Community Leadership Academy

Floods severely damaged a Kansas City charter school this week.

Students and teachers from the Urban Community Leadership Academy showed up for summer school on Thursday to find the three-story building damaged from top to bottom.

"As we open the front door this morning, it's just full of water and debris. Over 95 percent of the building has standing water in it," assistant director Bernard Wesley said.

Parts of the school's roof were blown across the street and the ceilings are falling in.

Summer school is canceled for now, but officials hope they can reopen by the end of August.

If you're interested in helping the school, they can be contacted at 816-483-8035.
